At VectorZ we take pride in turning concepts into (virtual) objects.
THE VALUE OF 3D VISUALIZATION
Most people cannot comprehend 2D plans. They may say and think that they do but many times they are surprised by what they see during construction. This often leads to expensive changes during construction and/or client disappointment. We feel that 3D color renderings and animations can help to avoid theseproblems and save money in the long run.
THE ARCHITECTURAL UNCANNY VALLEY
"An oft-cited theory in robotics, the Uncanny Valley, refers to that point along the chart of robot–human likeness where a robot looks and acts nearly—but not exactly—like a human. This subtle imperfection, the theory states, causes people's feelings toward robots to veer from fondness to revulsion." We find that that this problem also applies to Computer Generated Images (CGI).It seems that the "Photorealistic" renderings make people uncomfortable and they spend more time trying to figure out what's right or wrong with the picture than looking at what is depicted. Before computers, architectural renderings were hand drawn or painted works of art. They would not be confused with photographs because they were better than photographs. They gave the impression that creative minds were at work and this was their vision. We do work with computers and can't replicate the work done by hand but we can produce work with an artistic feel. We'd like to go back to showing a vision instead of a photograph.
